Nails
We did nails this morning. Riot was really good. Best he’s been in quite a few weeks. He didn’t fight much and remained calm after initially getting him into position.
Next we’re off on a woods walk. It’s a great fall day.
Vet Appointment
Riot went to the vet today and weighed in at 19 pounds. Hmmm…. he hit 20 pounds on our home scale two weeks back. We mentioned that to the vet (who also had Berkley coming in 2 pounds under his last weight when we’ve been trying to add a few pounds) and she said she was a bit suspicious too. We’ll take him back to the vet in a week or so to be weighed before he gets his next...
Balls Bluff Battlefield
Today we hit the trails at Balls Bluff Battlefield. We did a 0.8 mile loop. Chris and Cisco came along with us too. I guess because it was a gorgeous weekend it was actually fairly crowded so we had to stay on leash and on the trails. We met a few other dogs along the way too. We’ll have to go back and explore some of the longer trails in the future.
Trail Walk
I didn’t get home in time today to go for a woods walk (okay, well at least not to get lost in the woods and have to find our way out) before dark. So Riot and I did a trail walk, there were plenty of roots and fallen trees in our path so it was still an adventure. Riot mostly stayed on the trail with me falling behind maybe 30 feet or racing ahead about 30 feet, but really not going any...
Tunnels
Today all the dogs got trained. Riot got to practice the tunnel. The 15 foot blue tunnel was a bit longer than the short puppy tunnels we did in class.
Riot did a great job. We practice on the left and right side. The first time I switched sides on him he looked for me on the wrong side, but after that there was no fooling him.
Puppy Kindergarten Week 4
Wow… we’re more than half way through. I’m not sure what it is about puppy kindergarten, but it doesn’t seem to tire Riot out. You would think after an hour of class, he’d be more tired than most nights, but no. Usually he starts to calm down and doze off around 10:15/10:30, but last night he had the zoomies until sometime after 11. Finally I was tired and put him to...
Night 2 of Sleeping in the Ex-pen
Two nights ago Riot was very fussy all night. We have no idea what was wrong in his world that night, but I figured it might have something to do with the fact he is starting to outgrow his vari-kennel.
